Abdominoplasty / Tummy Tuck

Patient 1 - Front view
BEFORE SURGERY AFTER SURGERY
This 31 year old mother of 4 children, concerned about the excess skin below her belly button, underwent  a lower abdominoplasty (mini tummy tuck).  The post operative result depicted on the right was achieved by minimally extending her existing scar from a cesarean section.

Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is for patients seeking a reduction in the size of their abdomen.  The prominent abdominal area may have redundant, stretched or loose skin-common conditions following pregnancy, multiple pregnancies, or moderate to significant weight loss.

Surgery will flatten, tighten and contour the abdominal area, resulting in a narrower waist line, tighter abdominal muscles and a flatter and firmer stomach.  After surgery, patients experience both physical relief and cosmetic improvement.    Stretch marks, known as striae, may be improved or removed.

During an initial consultation, Dr. Mallen evaluates a patient’s general, medical and surgical history.  He also reviews fluctuations in weight, abdominal muscle tone and excess skin and/or fat.  Dr. Mallen explains risks, alternatives as well as post-operative restrictions of the procedure.  Photos of other abdominoplasty procedures are reviewed in detail.
