Cosmetic Surgery Following Weight Loss

Cosmetic surgery can successfully improve a patient’s appearance after significant weight loss by addressing areas of excess skin in the face, neck, abdominal area, upper arms and legs.   The number of patients who have achieved substantial weight loss is increasing.  These patients have accomplished their weight loss goal through diet and exercise or as a result of gastric bypass surgery.  After stabilizing their weight for a period of time, a significant number of these patients have undergone cosmetic and/or reconstructive procedures with satisfying results.  The most common cosmetic procedure performed after significant weight loss is abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).  Other procedures which yield very rewarding results after significant weight loss include breast lift, liposuction, face and neck lifts.

During an initial consultation, Dr. Mallen will review the patient’s medical, family and weight loss histories.  He discusses the patient’s diet and exercise patterns.  Dr. Mallen evaluates the areas of concern and makes recommendations.  Pre- and post surgical photos from prior weight loss cases will be reviewed in detail.
